Saturdays At Todd (S@T)
A free Art Encounter through department-led programming hosted by the Todd Art Gallery (TAG) and the MTSU Department of Art and Design.
Since Fall 2021, the series has offered hands-on art workshops, demonstrations, lectures, talks, and exhibition experiences, guided by faculty, visiting artists, community artists, and students. Open to all ages, unless otherwise noted, Saturdays At Todd provides materials at no cost and aims to inspire curiosity and a love for the arts, encouraging everyone to explore their creativity and learn new skills in a supportive environment.

Most Saturdays At Todd Experiences are free and open to the public. Select Experiences requiring specialized materials or guest artists may include a modest participation fee.

🎨Weaving with Reclaimed Materials
S@T Experience Leader, Catiebeth Thomas
Artist and MTSU Art and Design Alum
In this hands-on S@T Experience, participants explore weaving techniques using reclaimed and repurposed materials—an emphasis on sustainability, experimentation, and contemporary fiber practices. Participants will create a small woven work while engaging foundational techniques and creative reuse strategies.
Who Should Attend:
Artists, educators, students, and community members interested in fiber processes and sustainable art practices.
Materials:
Select reclaimed materials provided. Participants are encouraged to bring small fabric remnants or fibers of personal interest.

🎨True Blue Chemistry:
From Lab to Canvas

Saturday, March 21
This Saturdays at Todd experience trades the art studio for the lab, exploring the
chemistry and history of the color BLUE.
Participants experienced a brief discussion on the History of the color Blue, then synthesized Prussian blue, followed by painting with their creation. The experience was topped off with the indigo dyeing.
🎨5-Color Fabric Weaving led by Rebecca Anthony, Boro Quilting Bees
Participants weaved color into form and rhythm into their design.

🎨Disconnect to Reconnect, An Experience in Collaboration with Murfreesboro City Schools
From live animal sketches to Van Gogh’s stolen blooms, families explored, observed, and created together.

We also thank Main Street Murfreesboro, Sarah Callender, along with Laura Holder, Krystal Marin, and the MTSU Heritage Center.
Additional thanks to Kyle Stoneman and Joshua Lynn for leading the parent workshop, and thank you to Chelsea Moulder and Stephen Levenhagen for guiding students through drawing and sculpture—your leadership made the experience exceptional.

A risograph-printed anthology of Todd Art Gallery’s SPECTRUM: Juried Members of the Radical Intersectional Printmakers Guild (RIPG) Exhibition is available. $15 per edition; proceeds go to support RIPG.
